Advice to Working Moms Parent Teen Contract
Oct 25

From the first moment the child is drawn to the chest, he must be fed to a certain plan. This is necessary for the well-being of the child, and contributes mainly to preserve the health of the mother most specially.

This means, however, a special attention by the mother to her own health to that of her child. Healthy, nutritious and digestible milk can be obtained from a single parent who is in good health. It is against common sense to think that if a mother does not attend to her health and digestion by having poor diet, lack of exercise, and impure air. It can result to developing not so nutritious  fluid for her child. Each instance of the indisposition of the nursing mother is likely to affect the infant.

Have a plan to follow for the first six months. Until the milk is fully established, which until may not be the second or third day after delivery , infants should be fed to the a little  as a third water and two thirds of milk.

After this period, he must get his food from the breast alone, and for a week or ten days, the appetite of the child must be the guiding principle of the mother, how often to be breastfed . The stomach at birth is low and still not used to food, desires, are easily satisfied, but they are often renewed. An interval of time, but enough to digest the little intake, is obtained before the appetite again revives, and a new supply is required.

At the end of a week and it is essentially necessary, and with some children, in May this be done with safety from the first day of nursing,  nurse at the child at regular intervals of three or four hours , day and night. This leaves enough time for each meal to be digested, and tends to keep the bowels of the child in order. This regularity, moreover, will do much to avoid fretfulness, and that constant cry, which seems as if it could be solved by constantly within the child. A young mother is often in a very serious mistake in this particular case, given any expression of anxiety as an indication of the appetite, and whenever the baby cries, it offers the chest, although only ten minutes in May not elapsed since his last meal. It is an injury, and even dangerous, because, by overloading the stomach, the remains of undigested food, the intestines of children are still out of sight, he became feverish and agitated, and is, perhaps, finally lost, when, by the mere participation in the above rules of nursing, the child might have become healthy and strong.

For the same reason, the child who sleeps with his parents should not be allowed to have the nipple remaining in the mouth all night. If fed as suggested, the baby must be  awake, as the hour approaches his meals with great regularity. With reference to the night nursing, I would suggest breastfeeding daughter as late as ten hours per m, and not to resubmit the chest up to five hours the next morning. Many mothers have adopted this indication, with a great advantage for their own health. With the latter, it quickly becomes a habit to encourage, however, it should be taught earlier.

The previous plan, and without modification, should be continued for the sixth month.

After the sixth month of the weaning period, if the mother has a large supply of good food and milk, and her child is healthy and thriving on its course, no change in his diet should be made. If not, however (and this will, but too often the case, even before the sixth month) the child may be fed twice during the day, and this type of foods, which, after a little trial, to find more appropriate.
