Raising a Strong Child

Posted by | Childhood Care, Parenting Basics | Posted on July 11th, 2008

You may have heard people refer to the strong-willed child, but you have no idea what it really is until you have one of those living under your roof. Even if they are all different, most are very intelligent and outgoing. This may lead to their desire to be ahead of everyone and everything they see. They have ideas about what they want and how they want. Not to be confused with what some might call “bratty” but they can be this way if  parents  give in to  them all the time.

When you have a strong-willed child in your home, you already know that you must have some time with them. Want to start when they are young with ideas for your discipline. This type of child will grow all the time to see how far they can get before you stop. They want the borders that other children receive, but this kind of a child is not sure what  these limits might be. So they push you and see where you. Do not be afraid to stop when you’ve had enough.

This  child may be a little difficult to manage, to say the least. What you see is a child who is likely to go very far in life because they are intelligent and have a lot of energy. They often have as much energy as they have nowhere to run. This means they will be getting into trouble more often than other children. They are exploring, but they go too far. The strong will of the child wants to learn everything they can, and they do not want to stop.

Disciplining a strong-willed child will have to be just as stubborn as they are. What I mean is that you must define the limits and do not let them get away with even a fraction of an inch on the line. When they do, you must save everything you say. If you tell them they can not go see the Wiggles concert because of a problem, do not give up and let them go anyway. They learned that you are growing. Do not threaten something that you will give later.

It may be difficult to resist a strong desire for the child because you love so much, and sometimes you feel that you are too hard on them. They will respond positively to your limits, if you apply them, as you say you’re going. They will learn to respect, and look to you to guide their growth. The strong will of the child may be a handful when they are young, but whenthey grow they may just  rule the world.

Tips to Parents of Young Children

Although  you may be afraid when you bring your child, you have enough information and enough help to know that you are doing the right thing. Some things you have to do will be hard,  and you will not feel safe, but most of those who come home with the child are aware of what the baby needs to survive. These include food, housing and keeping baby clean and dry. However, when it comes to parenting young children, parents are more to themselves and they are not as instruction. It is tempting, but it is also a great joy.

What you must remember the rules for parents with small children, there is really no rules. Every child is different and each will do things in his  own special way. This means that what works for one child will not work for another. The rules are more like guidelines, and should be considered as such. Parenting young children is like an adventure in learning about human nature. As long as you seek to understand your child, you are halfway there.

You can find many books on parenting young children who can be very helpful. Again, remember to use what you’ve read as a guide rather than a manual. You can learn what is happening with your child, but you do not have to use the suggestions if you do not think this would be best for your children. You can take what you learn parenting young children in the books and then find solutions that do you go to work for your child or children. Perhaps the best way to go about choosing your best options.

Probably the most difficult part of the parents of young children would know when you need help. If you feel that you remove your hair every day, you may need to find a little more advice or to talk to someone. Do not think that makes you a failure as a parent. Some children are more feisty than others. The outgoing and go-getter attitude goes well for them later in life, but for you, this could mean that you feel that you are out of your mind. Children of these children is a challenge to get help if you need it.

Another challenge when young children, it is up to you to do it yourself. Those who are still married together or focus on other, and that something to be done more often. If you do not have this kind of support , young children find support elsewhere. Look for friends with their own children or family members who are willing to be there for you. You can also find support groups out there for single parents, and they can make a world of difference.

Potty Training

I hear many parents talking about how they have difficulty pot training their children. Most of those who complain about the way things are trying to push their children when they are too young. The truth is many parents simply do not know where to get good information on training pot, and others are not only care. They want their children educated and that’s it.

The most important thing you should know about potty training is the timetable  for your child. You may wish and hope all you want, but you should know that they train until they are ready. If you push too early, you are going to harm them, and you’ll push the process even further in the future. You are not in control when it comes to potty training, and whatever evil you want to use the potty, you’ll have to wait until they are ready and sublime if you want to see progress.

You need to know what signs you should be looking for your child to be the sign they are ready for potty training. Your child will show a strong interest in the potty, and may even try to look when you go to the bathroom. Children who are preparing for training pot often remain dry for a long time, and they always let you know when they make a saddle. There are many other signs, and when you notice more of these courses at the same time,  you may want to try to introduce them in the process.

Pull-Ups have no place in potty training.Maybe you’d agree to use them at night. But if you put underwear on them during the day, they need to feel their occurrence, and you have to resign themselves to clean up a little damage. When you are potty training, you should never have disrupted more than one accident or act as they are all huge.  Take your time, and remember that they let you know when the time is right. That is something that is entirely to them.
